Whenever I am forwarded an email such as the Keith Urban / Garth Brooks story, I do a little research on the 'net to find out whether it's fact or fiction. As much as I enjoy the freedom and the power of the Internet, I'm always aware that it's very easy to accept any email that crosses my computer as the truth. Especially emails like this where there's just enough true facts to make you want to believe. One of my favorite sites for checking out emails is Urban Legends @ About.com They do the research into the email and tell the public whether it's fact or fiction. You can also find info like this on Snopes.com I realise that my friends & family intend well when they forward emails like this. But please, before pressing the forward button, do a little background check. I have yet to find one that was not bogus. This includes the emails regarding Microsoft giving out money, cancer societies donating money for forwarding emails, and those warning emails about viruses. I don't know why people insist on creating bogus emails (okay, maybe I do in the case of the Brooks/Urban - to be able to slander someone anonymously and have it travel the world many times - what a power trip!) Please don't promote them. Thank you
