Have you received outstanding service from a local business? We want to hear about it!
Bernard Lundy, Smithers BC I first discovered Bernard Lundy's paintings during a Christmas craft sale at Kitimat's Riverlodge several years ago. I love the misty, colourful qualities of his paintings. My favorite is probably "Passion". It reminds me of Walt Limatainen - remember "Trapper Jack" years ago on CFTK-TV? Suzette
Gail Turner Sears, Terrace BC Love her watercolour paintings!
Favourite Authors Margo Bates "P.S. Don't Tell Your Mother" My parents got an autographed copy of the book a couple of years ago when Margo Bates was in town for a book reading. I don't often read non-fiction, but this was a good read. When Margo starts talking about the fathers with their hair like Elvis or Buddy Holly, some of them smoking Sportsman (in the yellow jacket with the fishing lure on one side, and a fish on the other) - I remembered my dad and uncle Don with their haircuts and smoking Sportsman. I wasn't born yet during the timeframe Maggie writes about, but I vaguely remember a newspaper office on North Kalum in about where Cotton Pick 'n Quilt Patch is now, the Greyhound station was on Lazelle across from Sherry Anderson, a Chinese restaurant was next door? to Greyhound. The blue ribbon bakery where the Movie Gallery is on Lakelse, a beauty salon was in the corner where the Hot House is. I can also vaguely remember the old church and the bare lot before the Skeena Mall was built. Suzette
